Now, to prevent them being lost to posterity, we've compiled the greatest moments from one of the festival's finest years. Is Eminem the festival's biggest ever headliner? Eminem isn't a name synonymous with rock, in fact he's downright slagged off people who are — yes, we mean those "little Limp Bizkit bastards" in 'Without Me'.
But after spending over ten years' worth of our bank holiday weekends in a certain field in Reading, we've never seen a headline crowd as big on the main stage. Eminem's headline set helped sell out tickets long before the festival began and perhaps his combination of nostalgia, big new pop hits and the fact he's still just as outspoken to this day made him an ideal choice. Unfortunately we will not be bringing you coverage of Eminem at ReadingFestival , he has asked us not to broadcast his set.
Drake pops up on stage with Giggs. Every festival goes through its fair share of wild, speculative rumours. Daft Punk have been rumoured to be doing a secret set at Glastonbury pretty much every year since they first donned their robotic heads.
So when wild gossip suggested Drake might pop up with Giggs, it seemed to good to be true, when he actually leapt out on stage to sing those incredible Batman lyrics for their collaboration 'KMT', it was still too good.
While Glastonbury are probably the masters of secret acts, Reading and Leeds pulled off some huge showstoppers. However this year might have topped them all as Don Broco and Wolf Alice snuck in, while previous headliners Queens of the Stone Age choppered in to play both festivals on the same day. Muse pull off the best encore of all time.
ReadingFestival pic. Encores are a trope of live music that refuse to go away. You know the band is going to come back on stage, they know they're going to come back on stage, yet you still have to go through the same ritual every time. Game of Thrones guests. Absolute legend. This is right up there. Anybody who has known me since I was a kid is aware of how much this man means to me. The singer with my favourite band.
The greatest band. This year has been like one of those dreams you're gutted to wake up from. Whatever next? This year on the same night as the Game of Thrones season 7 finale , John appeared again and probably posed for more selfies than the thousands of teenagers scurrying around the festival had during the entire weekend.
What a trouper. Highlights include pulling his buddies Skepta and Stormzy onto the stage — both of whom weirdly earned even bigger cheers — along with dishing out his new fragrance, 'Dench'.
Deap Vally are a duo from LA, in a similar drums and guitar format to the White Stripes and Royal Blood though they use a bass instead and produced a noise that pleased the sunbathing crowds. There were people as far as the eye could see and it you could see lots happening and carnival rides, it was very entertaining from where I was. The Main Stage finished with a British triple with Two Door Cinema Club, followed by Bastille and then the headliners — for the second time — Kasabian, ending the first day on a massive high.
We also played when Green Day did their secret set years ago and I had a coffee and a banana as I watched them, it was the best. Korn had a large crowd, but none bigger than the crowds that Major Lazer and Eminem gathered, with the boy from Detroit back for his third headline performance, equal to Muse who would headline for their third time the next day. Eminem filled a set with not only his own songs and many hits, but covers of songs by The Weeknd, Lil Wayne, B.
B, Drake and one from his side project, Bad Meets Evil. With a set that featured over 30 career spanning songs, Eminem was an amazing end to another remarkable day. One OK Rock from Japan played in the special guest slot — already an arena sized band in their home country.
Then that was another day over and just one final day to go, but what another great day it was going to be.
